The Irish Association of Advocates (IAA) was established in 2007 as the organisation representing advocates in Ireland. The IAA is committed to a leadership role in the ongoing development of advocacy in Ireland and to providing support to advocates. The majority of members are employed as disability advocates. However the IAA welcomes applications from those whose primary role is advocacy.
Our mission is to support and promote the work of advocates in Ireland.
Our aims and objectives are:
- To develop a code of practice incorporating the highest standards of ethical behaviour, competence and practice
- To represent and lobby on behalf of advocates on matters of policy and practice at local, national and international level
- To promote awareness of the contribution of advocacy
- To promote the IAA as the representative body for advocates in Ireland
- To offer peer support and share best practice
- To provide a forum for the exchange of information
